Iskcon Temple Bengaluru : A Memorable Yatra!
After the strenuous annual examinations, my kids were waiting for their summer trip and they preferred to spend their holidays in a scintillating city. Right from my childhood, I always had a fascination towards Bangalore for its subtle climate and tree-lined avenues. So we packed our bags to Bangalore fondly known as Garden City. I wanted to begin our frisky vacation with the blessings of Lord Krishna hence we started our first day at Iskcon Temple Bangalore.
Iskcon Temple Bengaluru: Begin Your Spiritual Quest!
I was elated to know that we could plan our stay in their neatly furnished guest houses depending upon the availability. We were blessed to accommodate ourselves in the spiritually stimulating ambience. The comfortable and tidy rooms enhance the spirituality and divine power of chants all around the place. My kids relished the sumptuous Krishna Prasaad which was offered every day. Me and my husband who always had a hectic routine from dawn to dusk got the opportunity to relax our soul from the urban stress and soaked ourselves in the ecstasy of holiness. Surrounded by lush greens and a beautiful fountain, the atmosphere helped me deal with my inner consciousness and peace.
The temple is decked with beautiful portraits of Krishna smiling beside Radha and Gopikas. The Gopuram is constructed with a combination of glass and stone. Our day started with Mangala Aarti with the chanting of Suprabatam. We spent our evenings in the serene temple lawns listening to the lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam. Once our souls were quenched with divine elixir, we stepped out of their premises to enjoy the dazzling city.
I enjoyed travelling with kids visiting the shopping malls and serene gardens. After a tiring sight-seeing schedule, we were carving for a sumptuous food and hanged around to find the best restaurant. Since my kids are ardent lovers of North Indian food and me being a foodie, we decided to have our lunch at Punjabi specialties eateries and dhabas. They served the best local cuisine of Punjab like parathas, roti and dum aloo. We spent our holidays in Bangalore which satisfied both our spiritual needs as well as helped have a fun filled trip which we won’t forget in a hurry!
Salar Jung Museum Hyderabad : A Cache Trove Of World History And Artifacts!
I wanted to spend a perfect weekend travelling with kids and I wishes for a day and destination filled with fun and frolic, yet very informative for myself and for my children. I decided to visit the famous Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad. Initially, the kids were little reluctant to visit a museum but they fell in love with the palace as soon as they entered the premises. Nestling on the southern bank of River Musi, this world-class museum displays beautiful artifacts from India, Eastern and Western. I was so amazed to see how each painting and sculpture has been preserved and well maintained for so many years!
Salar Jung Museum Hyderabad: Mirror of Indian History!
This place is definitely a sumptuous treat for art lovers as this museum is bestowed with lovely collections of antics like clocks, sculptures, painting, ceramics and furniture. I felt that it is a fun way of introducing world history to my kids who have always felt history was boring. The kids enjoyed knowing about each gallery and the specialty of every antic artifact just like a fairy tale. It was not only informative for the kids but also for me and my husband who had no idea about pre-independence history of India.
This museum sprawls in a vast area and has been divided into 3 blocks and totally comprises of 38 galleries. We were really surprised to know that it is just 25% of the entire artifacts they own. They have a separate gallery which displays the portraits and personal belongings of the founders of this magnificent museum. I felt I have travelled through time machine to different eras just at Rs.10/-. I enjoyed every part of the museum and discussed with my family about out great Indian heritage.
After the tour all of us were famished and hunger howls could be heard amidst the eerie silence of the museum! That was when we decided that we need to satiate the hunger pangs and we were in the mood for having some hot spicy food from the eateries and dhabas, which had the most authentic local cuisine than the best restaurants in town ! And not to say we were more than satisfied with the food and the warm homely ambience!
Hotels in Hyderabad : Matching The Majestic Ambience Of The Pearl City!
I have been in Hyderabad for around 5 years now (we settled down here after getting married), but my hubby was so busy that I had not visited a single tourist attraction in the place. It was during the quarterly holidays of my kids, when my cousins came from my native that we decided to enjoy these holidays in a completely different ambience. The 10 days were a whole lot of fun for us as we chose a budget hotel for the short 10-day period. We booked our rooms online in the Beccun A Designer Hotel, one of the best budget hotels in Hyderabad.
Our check-in was done within minutes, and we were in our deluxe rooms. Being a family of 4, we thought that the deluxe rooms would be spacious enough. The room was immensely spacious and was equipped with ultra-modern amenities and comforts. We had no complaints like a leaky faucet or a flush that was not working properly. I had read about such issues in some budget hotels of Hyderabad. Luckily, we didn’t have this issue here. We had checked-in to the hotel in the evening and all of us were very hungry and our guests were waiting to enjoy the famed Hyderabadi Biriyani from the restaurant. We made our way to the multi-cuisine restaurant in the designer hotel.
I had my favorite Tandoori dishes – the Butter Naan and Kadai Paneer were awesome. My kids tasted Continental recipes for the first time and loved it. My husband opted for Chinese. And as expected our guests had their favorite Biriyani.

We retired early at night. The next day, we started early and went to the Birla Temple. Then, we visited a couple of parks -the Lumbini Park and the Indira Park where our children had a good time with their cousins. My kids loved the Nehru Zoological Museum, which housed their favorite animal – the tiger. I always love to visit palatial monuments. So, we went to the Chowmahalla Palace. I was spellbound seeing the intricacies with which the palace was built.

We returned to the hotel late that night. Good that we had started early else we couldn’t have visited these many places in a day! After returning to the room, I video-chatted with my parents and in-laws about the tourist attractions we had visited and was really elated when they said they too would be visiting us soon!

Afzal Gunj Hyderabad : The Transportation Hub In Hyderabad!
Being a mother of two, makes one’s life so busy that it is unimaginable to even peep into my personal needs. My mornings dawned with the busy hours of preparing food and sending my kids to school and ended with homework and books. All I wanted was to escape this routine life and was waiting for an opportunity to enter the gateway of joy and happiness! As my husband was too busy with his business trips, I had to plan for a weekend day out with my kids in order to avoid crankiness in the following week.
I had so many pending shopping plans so I decided to visit Afzal Gunj in Hyderabad which can be easily accessed from any part of the city. Though travelling with kids in a public transport is a huge challenge, my sweet kids were kind enough by not being very naughty.
They were happily staring at the skyscrapers and market places which made my job easier. Just few steps away from the transportation hub of Afzal Gunj, is the famous Salarjang Museum which boasts of the rich heritage of India and displays a plethora of monuments from various countries. After a feast for our eyes in the beautiful museum, we wanted some food for our famished tummies. I ordered some yummy chats and Punjabi delicacies in the nearby eateries and dhabas and had a lovely afternoon.
Our next plan was to visit the bustling markets in this area. Being a shopaholic I really couldn’t stop myself from entering the buzzing streets of Begum Bazaar, markets near Charminar and Siddiambar Bazaar. I grabbed a few salwar suites, sarees and jhumkas from their exotic collections of clothes and accessories available in every shop in the bazaar.
Even though I had good collections of curtains and bedspreads, the colorful curtains spread in the bazaars tempted me and I bought two more of them. With my admirable bargaining skills, I procured some best spices, fruits and veggies at reasonable prices.
Being a foodie, my shopping spree always ends with a sumptuous dinner and we visited the best restaurant in that locality and enjoyed some tasty food which made our weekend all the more special!
