Champaran is a well-known village in Chhattisgarh, which id located about 60 km from the capital city of Raipur. We went to the place during our visit to Chhattisgarh as a lot was said about the place. It got fame as the birth place of Saint Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya, who was a great reformer and also the founder of the Vallabh Sect. A temple was established here in his honor. We had a cab arranged to take us to the place and we got ready by 7.30 am. The cab arrived at 8.00 am and we got into it. We had breakfast from the hotel and we reached the place by 9. 30 am.
It was a spiritual village with devotees of Saint Vallabhacharya and the atmosphere here was very calm and quiet. All were busy in their own works and making very little sound. Two temples here dedicated to Shri Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya. The first one is known as Prakatya Baithakji and the puja is performed by Param Pujya Goswami Shri Vrajjivanlalji and his two sons. We went inside the temple and offered prayer. It was very calm and peaceful inside the temple and it rejuvenated my soul and body.
The second Baithakji is named Mool Prakatya and is commonly called Chhatti Baithak. There is also a Haveli Temple here dedicated to Shri Girijaji and Shri Balakrishnalalji. A small stream flows near the temple and it is believed that it was from River Yamuna. The temples here were neat and clean and well maintained. There were shops near the temple selling sweets and other offering for the deity. Lots of devotees buy various items from these shops to offer at the temple.
Before entering the temple we have remove the shoes and keep them at the place specially provided for their safe keeping. You have to pay a small fee to keep the shoes in this way. The visit to the temple was very enlightening and I spent considerable time praying at the temples here. It made me feel happy and peaceful. After the visit to the temples we went to the nearby restaurant and had a cup of tea and some local snacks prepared there.
